LG’s warranties list ten years of coverage on the linear compressor and on the washer’s direct drive motor, and it’s easy to read that as a free repair in year seven. It isn’t. What LG’s 10-year coverage pays for, and what it doesn’t
LG’s U.S. warranty documents spell out the terms. Here’s how they break down for the two appliances with the long coverage.

So a linear compressor that fails in year seven gets a free compressor, and you pay for the labor to install it. Our appliance repair cost guide explains what drives that number.
A few conditions in the fine print matter. Proof of purchase is required; without it, LG starts the warranty 90 days after the manufacture date. Replacement parts are warranted for the rest of the original term or 90 days, whichever is longer, and they may be refurbished or remanufactured. The warranty doesn’t cover damage from improper repair, and LG defines that to include parts it hasn’t authorized. It also excludes the cost of pulling out and reinstalling a refrigerator for repair. LG refrigerator codes and what LG says to do
Er FF, E FF or F
Ice or frost is stopping the freezer fan motor. LG’s fix is a manual defrost: unplug the refrigerator and leave both doors fully open for at least 24 hours. Empty it into coolers first. If the code returns after the defrost, LG says service may be needed.
Er CO or E CO
A communication error between the main control board and the display board. LG says it can come from either board failing or a disconnected wire, and that it needs an LG service technician to check it. There’s no owner fix.
Er IF

LG washer and dryer codes
LG’s front-load and top-load washers share most codes, with a few that differ.

LG names a kinked drain hose or a clogged drain pump filter as causes of OE. IE starts at the faucets: LG’s first step is to confirm both supply valves are fully open. LG ties LE to overloading, running cycles back to back, or objects such as coins trapped inside; if it keeps returning, remember the direct drive motor carries ten-year parts coverage.
On LG dryers, d80, d90 and d95 are Flow Sense warnings that the exhaust duct is 80, 90 or 95 percent blocked (on gas models, d80 can also point to the gas supply). LG’s steps are to clear lint from the rear duct and make sure the vent hose isn’t crushed, kinked or dented, running straight or in a gentle S curve. LG says not to use the dryer until a severely restricted exhaust has been cleaned or repaired. The 2025 LG electric range recall
In February 2025 LG recalled about 500,000 electric ranges sold from 2015 through January 2025 for $1,400 to $2,650. Front-mounted knobs could be switched on by accidental contact from people or pets. CPSC documented at least 86 unintended activations and more than 28 fires. Models include LDE4411ST, LDE4413ST, LSE4611ST, LSE4613ST, the LSEL6331 to LSEL6337 family, LTE4815, LRE4215ST and LTEL7337F. LG’s remedy is a free warning label with placement guidance, and it advises owners to use the range’s Control Lock or Lock Out feature. For other range faults, see oven, range and stove repair.
LG’s own service or an independent company?
Inside the first year, or for a compressor or sealed system failure inside five years, go through LG so the claim is paid. For a linear compressor in years six to ten, the part is LG’s, so ask LG how it wants the repair routed before you hire anyone, since LG excludes damage from repairs that use parts it hasn’t authorized.
Past those windows you can hire any qualified shop, and we’ll connect you with one that knows LG. On that first call, ask for the company’s state registration number so you can look it up on the Bureau of Household Goods and Services site, ask whether the replacement parts are LG-authorized (that exclusion again), and ask for the price in writing before anyone starts.
Parts access is easier on newer machines. Under SB 244, an LG appliance built and first sold here from mid-2021 onward, at $100 or more wholesale, has to have parts, tools and repair manuals available from LG for seven years after its final production run.
